Friday Night Football Recap - AM 1180 Radio (1)

The Trion Bulldogs hosted the Temple Tigers on Friday evening. Both teams were 2 – 0 coming into last night’s contest. For the second time this season, high school football in Trion was affected by lightning. Thunderstorms in the area on Friday evening delayed fans getting into Sam R. McCain Stadium. The game got underway and Temple scored in the first quarter, but by half time, the Trion Bulldogs were up 7 -3. Temple didn’t score again until the fourth quarter but it wasn’t enough as the Bulldogs continued to add points to defeat the Tigers 42-15. Next week, the Trion Bulldogs will be at home again to take on Model. The Chattooga Indians had the night off last night, and will return next week to take on Mt. Zion at Home.

To allow for the anticipated increase in Labor Day weekend traffic congestion, Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT) has announced the suspension of lane closures on Georgia interstates and state routes. Suspended lane closures started yesterday and will continue through Tuesday of next week, resuming at 5 AM. While construction related lane closures will be suspended, the department reminds travelers to exercise caution as crews may still work near highways, and safety concerns may require some long-term lane closures to remain in place. In addition, incident management, emergency or maintenance-related lane closures could become necessary at any time on any route.
