"We have moved on but you don't forget," Tanya Brown, sister of the late Nicole Brown Simpson told The Detroit Free Press in February of 2020. "You learn to live without that person. It gets easier with time. I think that's a defense we've all been given anytime somebody dies."

Most of us are familiar with the iconic O.J. Simpson trial. In 1994, the former NFL star was charged with murdering Nicole Brown Simpson (his ex-wife) and her friend, Ronald Goldman, and was infamously acquitted of the crimesin a televised trial that went on for 252 days, per History. A cyclone of controversy and outrage followed the verdict that remains one of the most thought-provoking and talked-about cases in American history (per Biography).

In 2016, two majorly successful TV anthologies recounting the incident were released — "O.J: Made in America," and "The People vs. O.J. Simpson" — which spurned a renewed wave of interest and conversation surrounding the case. Just shy of 30 years later, people are more curious than ever about what happened on that awful day in 1994 (via Vulture).

When Nicole Brown Simpson was found stabbed with her throat slashed outside of her Brentwood, California home on June 13, 1994, officers entered the house to find what looked like a silent vigil: Candles were lit and a bath had been drawn. A partially-melted bowl of ice cream had been left on a banister on the first floor. Most disturbing of all, her children, Sydney and Justin, were sound asleep in their beds. Ron Goldman, her friend who was a local waiter at a nearby restaurant, was also found murdered alongside the 34-year-old woman. He had been stabbed 25 times (via Penn Live).

Witnesses reported seeing Simpson at Mezzaluna, the restaurant where Goldman worked, earlier in the evening. After his shift, he told his coworkers that he was headed off to Simpson's nearby residence to deliver a pair of sunglasses that she'd left behind while having dinner a few hours prior. Sadly, it would be the last time anyone ever saw him alive (per Penn Live).

Multiple puncture wounds were observed on Nicole Brown Simpson in her neck and throughout the rest of her body. She had been stabbed a total of 12 times and had several lacerations across her scalp, face, neck, chest, and left hand. She had also been brutally beaten. Her body was found in a pool of blood beneath a small set of stairs leading to an outdoor walkway. The 25-year-old Ron Goldman, in a similar fashion, had been beaten, cut, and stabbed in the neck, face, chest, abdomen, and thigh. His body was found on a small plot of soil beneath a fence surrounding the backyard (via Crime Online).

Authorities searched the neighborhood for additional clues and found Simpson's white Akita wandering the surrounding streets with blood on its paw and a leash dangling from its neck. O.J. Simpson was charged a few days later and attempted to flee from police in a white Ford Bronco. The resulting chase became a televised spectacle that drew the eyes of the entire country in real-time. According to E! News, Sydney and Justin Simpson moved to Florida with their father in 2000. With the help of their family, the two siblings did their best to maintain anonymity and keep the press out of their lives in the aftermath of what became known as "the trial of the century." Little is known of their home life while under the sole supervision of O.J. Simpson, but it was later confirmed that Sydney Simpson graduated fromBoston University with a degree in Sociology in the spring of 2010. She ultimately settled down inSt. Petersburg, Florida where she opened her own business — a property management company called Simpsy LCC. Rumors of a courtship between her andSt. Petersburg City Council candidate Robert Blackmon started to circulate in 2017, but they were later refuted by Blackmon himself, as The Tampa Bay Times reports.

JustinSimpson is a resident of St. Petersburg like his sister, also opted for a career in real estate, and has worked for both Coldwell Banker Homes and DHM Real Estate in recent years. E! News reports that the second-born Simpson sibling developed an active social media presence dedicated to his business ventures, though he doesn't share about his personal affairs or the subject of his mother's tragic death in 1994.
